The Blount County Ethics

April 27

The Blount County Commissioner (and Democrat) Wendy Pitts Reeves has posted an interesting review of the ongong ethics battle and the attacks on her from the Blount County Mayor and Sheriff. Check out her blog at pittsreeves.blogspot.com. For additional coverage there is an article in Blount Today.

FDR Dinner

April 26

Our annual Roosevelt Dinner (also sponsored by the Blount County Democratic Women's Club - thanks Gerrae) was held Saturday Night with more than 100 attendees. Master of Ceremonies (and BC Dems vice-chair) Tony Webb presented quite a line-up: BC commissioners Wendy Pitts-Reeves, David Ballard, and Bob Proffit; Judge Mike Meares; representatives from the US Senate campaigns of Mike Padgett and Bob Tuke; and guest speaker Representive John Litz - the Tennessee Assistant House Majority Leader. BlountViews provides an excellent (as usual) writeup with photos (also see Blount Today).

Upcoming Events

First Friday Luncheon

May 2
Our program is a follow-up to April's excellent roundtable discussion that featured Howard Kerr, Jim Folts, Arnold Klugman and Wendy Pitts Reeves. Linda King, outspoken leader of "Citizens For Blount County's Future" will headline our porogram. Ms. King and her husband, Joe, have been dedicated watchdogs concerning questionable tactics in the County Court House. They have demonstrated great courage in standing up to Jerry Cunningham, Dave Bennett and Sheriff Berrong and their dictatorial, fiscally irresponsible actions.

I find it interesting that Linda King, like Jim Folts, is a Republican and a very committed supporter of Judge Mike Meares. We will have an update report on the Mike Meares Election Campaign plus reports from the Blount Democrats Executive Committee and the successful Roosevelt Dinner last Saturday Night. I also hope that we will hear from Commissioner Wendy Pitts Reeves. See you Friday--11:30AM at Ryan's, Happy Days

See you Friday!
