Women's Equality Day

Join us for a celebration of Women's Equality Day marking the anniversary of the 19th Amendment’s certification in 1920, which granted women the right to vote in the United States.   

Jackie Hill, former County Commissioner, will present a proclamation from the Blount County Mayor's Office. 

Speakers, Mae Owenby, first woman TN House Representive from Blount County,  and Lore Stevens, , UU minister in Oak Ridge, MS Women’s and Gender Studies, will speak to us about the struggle for equality.

We'll sing suffrage songs, hear readings from students, and light candles in honor of the tireless efforts of the suffragists who fought for women’s rights and highlights the ongoing struggle for gender equality.
